Serpentine Tribotechnical Composition «Saranovsky». Preparation and Comparative Tests Authorized by AV Dunaev Non-traditional tribotechnics with the use of organic, metal and mineral tributechnical compositions allows for without disassembly repair of worn-out friction units of various civil and military equipment. From 1942 it developed a slow but with 2000 there were over 200 different tribological compounds, of which in Europe, Asia, America widely used a few dozen. In Russia, due to the simplicity of preparation, application and efficiency, the most widely used powders of minerals of the serpentine group were found. Their creation and justification of application took place in the 80-90s years in St. Petersburg and many other research institutes of Russia. Effect of Boundary Conditions on Buckling Load for Laminated Composite Plates Authorized by Osama Mohammed Elmardi Suleiman It is observed that, for all cases the buckling load increases with the mode number but at different rates depending on whether the plate is simply supported, clamped or clamped – simply supported. The buckling load is a minimum when the plate is simply supported and a maximum when the plate is clamped. Because of the rigidity of clamped boundary condition, the buckling load is higher than in simply supported boundary condition. It is also observed that as the mode number increases, the plate needs additional support. Relevance of Electrical ResistivityGeophysical Method in Engineering Site Characterization in A Basement ComplexTerrain In this study, relevance of electrical resistivity geophysical technique in engineering site characterization had been demonstrated. The aim of the study was to establish the capability of the technique to unravel subsurface conditions through quantitative assessment/evaluation of subsurface geoelectric parameters. In order to achieve the objectives of the study, twenty (20) VES were acquired using R-50 Resistivity meter. The results obtained from both the qualitative and quantitative interpretations of the VES data were utilized in preparing geoelectric sections and some important layers parameters maps. The dominant curve types obtained suggest that the study area is largely characterized by the presence of highly weathered/fractured basement with evident of saturation. Three geologic layers were generally delineated, and these were topsoil, weathered/fract...

Study on the Impregnation of Archaeological Wood with an Automated Equipment Heated impregnation is a routine dealing operation for unearthed archaeological wooden artifacts. Most of the water can be replaced and the voids can be filled with stabilizing chemical agents by putting the artifacts in the solutions at elevated temperatures. The impregnation process usually lasts for days, even for months. Traditionally the concentration and temperature of the soaking solution are regulated manually, which leads to high labor intensity and low efficiency of impregnation. In this paper special equipment was developed for the heated impregnation of archaeological wood with polyethylene glycol (PEG). The temperature of the solution was controlled, and the weight was monitored to give hints for changing the PEG concentration. The solution in the soaking tank was periodically circulated to enhance the mass transfer. Numerical simulations were carried out for the flow in the tank and the di...

Development of Mathematical Model to Predict Marshal Stability on Modified Asphalt This paper monitor the rate at which marshal stability experienced improvement through modifiers with shell ash, these are filler that play a tremendous role in engineering properties of bituminous paving mixes. The study tries to improve the asphaltic materials applying these modifiers, the application of conventional, cement, lime and stone done are used as fillers. But for this study, an attempt has been made to access the effect of non-conventional filler (snail shell ash) the study applied modeling and simulation, this concept try to predict the variation of marshal stability at different percentage of shell ash, the predictive values generated parameters that are validated with experimental data, the values of both parameters observed to be stability and OK and it implies that it meant the criteria for asphalt institute for Mix design. The study from the predictive developed parameters...

A Perspective on Chemical Engineering Education Chemical Engineering education faces new challenges that need to be addressed by chemical engineering educators. The dynamically changing learning environment and that of teaching require the teacher to relax and contemplate. Among all community sectors, educators must be number one in sniffing the smell of change, be willing to adapt, and later be capable to adopt new pedagogical findings, methods and techniques, and means. In brief, the notion of revolutionizing chemical engineering education does not necessarily mean that we should ignore the pillars of it. On the contrary, we should expand in a way to also tackle the latest critical socio-technical issues both on the stem (roots) and branches level. The tree of chemical engineering education has to grow in height (chance to explore new areas and also see the sun) above the ground and have more branches (industrial applications to be tailored to chemical engineering), as w...

2D and 3D Sensitivity Analysis of a Multitiered Retaining Wall A rational design methodology for multitiered mechanically stabilized earth (MSE) walls that accurately predicts wall performance is lacking. AASHTO design guidelines provide a purely empirical design using “calibrated” lateral earth pressures adopted from various limited guidelines. Studies have shown that numerical analysis (limit equilibrium method (LEM) and 2D finite element method (FEM)) can be used for the analysis of these types of walls. In this study, a comparison of three different analyses of a multitiered retaining wall under surcharge loading is presented: 2D LEM, 3D LEM, and 2D FEM. The results showed that the 3D LEM gave higher factor of safety compared to the 2D LEM and 2D FEM which gave the same result. A sensitivity analysis regarding the strip coverage of the geosynthetic reinforcement layers is also presented in this study. https://irispublishers.com/gjes/fulltext/2d-and-3d-sensitivity-a...

Virtual Reality and Distance Education What is the next generation of learning technology: the cellphone, your watch, virtual reality, or all of the above? The research question being asked is: How can Virtual Reality (VR) assist students in learning? This research proves that virtual reality technology does enhance 3D spatial visualization skills of students. Due to the nature of their learning styles, many students need to interact with 3D scenes to enhance their spatial visualization skills, to see and understand the 3D model. This research proves that virtual reality technology will assist in giving both online and face-to-face architectural students a better education and help them to improve their spatial visualization skills. https://irispublishers.com/gjes/fulltext/virtual-reality-and-distance-education.ID.000521.php For More Open Access Journals in Iris Publishers Please Click on: https://irispublishers.com/ For More Articles in Global Journal of Enginee...

Microbiota of the Gut: Antibiotic-Induced Dysbiosis and the Adverse Effects on Human Health Iris Publishers LLC , 2018 A healthy gut microbial community is essential for homeostasis in mammals. A symbiotic relationship between host and microbe s essential in developing the immune system, providing biomolecules and generating energy through utilisation of indigestible compounds. The diversity of the gut microbiota is altered following antibiotic treatments, the effect this has on the health and wellbeing of the host has long been underestimated and is now the subject of intense debate. Antibiotics facilitate the selection of energy harvesting microbes within the gut and hence heavily influence the gaining of weight and may be contributing more than we anticipated to the modern obesity epidemic. These changes to the bacterial composition of the gut, dysbiosis are caused by elevated oxygen levels within the gut that promotes the propagation of facultative anaerobic Proteobacteria, ...

This control is always needed before the service of machines and equipment. For 0.5 hours evaluate the work of oils, prevent their late change and accident. Means of verification The crucible 75.100 ml, thermometer 250 °С, device for the slow controlled heating of the oil to 220 – 235 °С, filter paper.Determine the temperature of the beginning and end of crackling/foaming/boiling oil when it is watered, flash point, decreasing due to loss of viscosity. An oil stains (“drip sample”, Figures 1&2) on filter paper after 15 - 20 minutes characterizes the contamination, washing, dispersing properties, water cut and overheating of the oil.
